About ‘Tex’
OK, I am not really named Tex. Who would name their child Tex?
My name is Rick. I own a nursery selling native and adapted plants for the Blackland Prairies of Texas, named Mostly Texas Natives Nursery. I’m a gardener who likes to educate others and who has lots to learn about gardening. The “Sex” part of the Blog name refers, of course, to plant propagation. What did you think?
I am a strictly organic gardener.
My yard generally looks like heck, because I am constantly planting some and uprooting other perennials. Not a good advertisement for organic gardening, but someday it will look good.
I like a beautiful field of turf, but I am not willing to waste the water keeping it looking good. So, the turf in my yard is endangered.
Water usage is a big concern; that is why, in my nursery, I offer mostly drought-tolerant plants.
The name of the Blog was taken from the title of a lecture by Master Gardener Janet Smith. She gives entertaining, knowledgable talks around Dallas about plant reproduction.
