Horseherb, Straggler Daisy

A tough, attractive groundcover for those hard-to-fill shady areas. Horseherb is a Texas native that requires little water once established. It spreads slowly, so you'll probably want to plant in mass to cover those ugly bare areas. As far north as Dallas, it remains evergreen most winters. Even if it should go dormant, it will return in spring. Tiny yellow flowers are a bonus, though not prominent. Do a mass planting, along with another shade lover, such as wood violets, and you'll have green stuff all year. You can mow horseherb, and you can walk on it (moderately, please -- it's not turf). Come to think of it, for shady areas, it's better than turf.
