Salvia coccinea ‘Coral Nymph’

Coral Nymph Sage

This is a long-blooming salvia, with coral-colored flowers from May to frost. It’s flowers are a bit larger than Salvia greggiis. In my garden, its blooms last longer than that of most other plants. Its flowers are a bit larger than Salvia greggii's. Protect it by mulching during winter to ensure it comes back strong in spring. It can't take full sun -- it's not a cactus, gang -- so put it somewhere where it gets part shade; afternoon shade is perfect. It is not drought-tolerant; you will need to water regularly during the summer. It can grow lanky, but it stays in its spot, so its never unattractive. A quick grower.
